Discussed Classification of teams per Western Territorial Jr Olympic “B” Program presented at the National
Council Meeting in
Most northwest Region teams play only 1 summer season from
when school is out in mid-June until
Championship play in August.
We do not have
All-Star teams. Players play only for the 1 team all season.
Teams playing at “B”
level comply closely to the ”Rural B Teams
Classification” except for the 25 mile clause.
All J O Commissioners
agreed our “B” teams belong in “B” ball & could not participate at the “A”
level.

Meeting
The majority of code
proposals are in response to changes made at the National Council Meeting in
Items include the
deletion of Travel Permits. Proof of ASA Registration is required for participation
in ASA sanctioned tournaments.
ASA West National
Championship Finals for “B”: Teams will
qualify same as ASA West Nat “A” teams by participating in their Local
Association Tournaments. “B” National Qualifiers have been eliminated.
USA/ASA National
Championship berths will be awarded at the “A” National Qualifier Tournament (for
2008 only). 1 berth to the Tournament Champion, 2 berths to
the next highest finishing Region 15 teams.
At the 2008 National
Council meeting, the Hall of Fame berths were changed to be awarded at the 2008
Regional Tournament for the 2009 HOF Tournaments. This was heavily discussed
& will be discussed further at the JO Workshop. (We are still having
problems with filling the berths. Some teams that qualify at the Regionals may not qualify as a “returning team” the next
season & have to turn down the berth. Legislation may be forthcoming to
qualify teams in the fall after the National Championships when the teams are
preparing for the next year)
At the Gold level,
Sectors are now Territories & align with the Territories in the ASA Code.
JO West National
Championship Finals dates have been changed to comply with the ASA Code.
National Qualifiers
& Regional Tournaments have been changed to a Double Elimination Tournament
format to match ASA Code starting in 2009.
New run ahead rules
for after 4 innings have been added to the After 3 & after 5 innings
to comply with the ASA Code.
The JO Western
National guidelines have been eliminated from the Regional Code. They are
covered in the ASA Code.
